Billy Beane Of ‘Moneyball’ Fame To Be Featured Speaker At Naiop Signature Speaker Series

 Billy Beane, general manager of the Oakland Athletics who was portrayed in the book and then the movie “Moneyball,” is the featured guest at NAIOP Arizona’s first Signature Speaker Series of 2014.

 The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, at the Arizona Biltmore. Registration in the northwest lobby of the Grand Ballroom begins at 3 p.m. Doors close at 4:40 p.m. KC Conway, chief economist USA for Colliers International, will make the opening remarks. Beane will speak from 5-6 p.m. A reception follows from 6-7 p.m.

“Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game,” was written by Michael Lewis and published in 2003. It focused on the team’s analytical, evidence-based approach to building a competitive team. An Oscar-nominated film based on the book starring Brad Pitt was released in 2011.
