Husband and wife team Steve and Karen Maynard are fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning and operating their own restaurant, Tempo Urban Bistro and Coffee in the community they’ve called home for the past seven years. Originally from upstate New York, the Maynard’s new space in the heart of Verrado’s Main Street will feature both a coffee bar and American bistro. According to Steve, “We chose the name ‘Tempo’ for multiple reasons. Our food, service and décor will be based on our brand as a contemporary urban bistro. Tempo is not only the heart of the word contemporary; it represents the rhythm and beat. We want to be that beat on Main Street.”
Tempo’s coffee bar opened in mid-September at 21067 W. Main Street in Buckeye, AZ, while lunch and dinner in the adjoining American-style bistro will debut October 9. As a successful chef who has worked in local restaurants, he knows this market well and has developed a fine dining menu that will offer an inspired lunch and dinner experience inherently unique to the West Valley, featuring fresh produce from local farmers. Karen is lending her expertise as Assistant Vice President of Tenant Coordination for Macerich to the design and build-out of the space.
“Verrado is in another growth period as we prepare for our next two phases of residential development here. There was a lot of market and operator interest in this location and we picked a team that has a solid operating plan and a pulse on this community. Neighbors in the area have been clamoring for a great coffee and casual dining spot and Tempo is already proving to be a perfect fit for Verrado,” said Michael Burke, Vice President of Development with DMB.
The coffee bar is open daily from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and the bistro will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Tempo will be open until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights. To learn more about their amenities and menu, visit www.tempourbanbistro.com or Facebook at Tempo Urban Bistro and Coffee Bar.
The addition of Tempo to Verrado’s Main Street brings the office and retail center to 100% occupancy.
